Yantra Mat Review

yantra mat review bagSince I received my Yantra Mat in the post a few weeks ago I think I have used it enough (every day in fact) to give it a fair review.

Before I start let me say that I have a couple of friends who already use an acupressure mat. They we very happy with them - this being the reason for me ordering one myself.

I don't have any back related problems (the reason some buy it), but I do suffer from stress occasionally due to work and as a consequence trouble sleeping.

Before the mat arrived I did a little research of other people Yantra Mat reviews so as to know what to expect. The reviews were balanced at about 50/50 positive/negative but one observation was made by most which was that the mat is quite uncomfortable for the first few minutes when lying on it but persevere and it become a much more relaxing and the discomfort can be worse of you are ,lets say, more "round" than not. Thanksfully I am not particually round.

First Impressions

Unpacking it I was initially impressed by the quality of the mat itself. It consists of a strong padded cotton mat with over 200 "spiked flower" discs on one side each with 42 (sharp) spikes. I was expecting something similar to a exercise mat which it certainly is not. The mat is a little larger than my back which I would say is pretty average

yantra mat reviewFor the fist few sessions I followed the manufactures recommendations for those new to acupressure and lay on it wearing a t-shirt for no more than 10 minutes.

I did find the first couple of minutes of these initial sessions quite uncomfortable but as others have stated the discomfort passes and it becomes quite relaxing.

After 3 Weeks

Now after 3 weeks use there is very little discomfort and I've upped the time to 20 minutes all of which is a very chilled out relaxing experience. I tend to read or listen to music whilst lying on the mat on the floor. I have tried sitting up with it on the seat as some other recommend, but it doesn't work for me.

I think I will be keeping my t-shirt on also, without it I find the spikes far too sharp.

Positive Effects?

yantra mat review matThe main reason for buying the mat was to help me de-stress and sleep better at which it has certainly succeeded. I use it every evening for 20 minutes and afterwards I feel very relaxed. Sleeping has also improved, I fall to sleep so much quicker than I used to and I feel so much better for it.

All in all I only have good things to say about the Yantra Mat. I recommend it to anyone suffering from stress or sleep problems.
